Let the Leaves Fall

4am mornings have been gifting me a nice portion of time to simply sit and think. As I’ve been sipping my warm, early morning cup of tea this week, I have been thinking frequently about our Summer season morphing into Fall. Yesterday my thoughts were further validated by a sign I saw at Hobby Lobby that gave me a little smile. Upon a brown wooden frame, black sweeping typography read "Fall is proof that change is beautiful."

As Summer is coming to an end, my little family and I are gearing up for our extended stay in Nashville. Over the past month, since we booked this trip, I have noticed how much I am savoring all of the little details of our surroundings here at home. Outside, the birds songs are sweeter, the cool crisp PNW air is more refreshing than ever and the forest greens and orange leaves feel like a cherished heirloom painting. My senses feel heightened because I am aware that soon my surroundings will be changing, and while I will miss our little home in the country, my curiosity and adventurous spirit is pleased to know something new is coming soon.

Admittedly, I don't usually write these entries day of, but today was an exception. A few moments ago I had to pause my thoughts and check on my sweet son who was looking for "Mama". As I snuggled him back to sleep, feeling his little warm feet on my leg, I let my thoughts carry me away. As I let my eyes close, the words "let the leaves fall" came drifting across my mind.
We can’t control the changing of the seasons, but we can counter the change with a change within our own heart and mind. We can look for the beauty, search for the meaning, and find freedom in knowing that there would be no Summer without a Fall; each season is for a purpose.

Whatever kind of season is ending or starting for you, I pray you feel the strength of God's love and provision over your life. If you have questions or confusion about what's ahead, I encourage you to ask Him about what's weighing on your heart and mind.

I hope this short entry today sparked a flicker of inspiration and that we can all "let the leaves fall", as they must, as we head into the new season that lies ahead.

Blessings,
